James’ Weblog

This is The Greatest and Best Blog in The World

‘tsup?

Hey everyone.  Since we didn’t really do formal introductions in class (and for the outside chance that someone not in ENGR 407 is reading this) my name is James Bock.  I was born in Pittsburgh, Pa and went to Pittsburgh Central Catholic for high school.  In ran track and played soccer and football.  I planned on walking on the team here but I’m quite injury prone so it didn’t work out.  Here at Penn State I’m a junior finance major.

OK  that’s enough intro.  Time to rant.

Did everyone hear about the golf commentator the made the lynching comment directed at Tiger Woods.  The two apparently were and still are friends despite the whole thing.  When the story aired on ESPN there were actually people calling for her job.  I agree that the comment was insensitive and poorly timed but I think most people are missing the big picture.  I think it showed some serious progress.  It was stupid to say lynch an African American man but I don’t think she saw him as anything but a good friend.  Isn’t this what we want?  Everyone to view each other as human beings not as a “black man” or a “white girl”?  Why did most people miss this??
